Before Darren Wallace left, I had been working with him on a custom order (2 years). The side ports show up a couple times in pro artist customs. I am told this was the next to last guitar out the door Darren worked on with four others. I will let some of the full shots show up next week on other boards. The basics are Adamas, 12 fretter, 1.75 nut width, walnut neck - unglossed, custom color with bronze flake. Custom binding with no purfling, If I had more hair - it would part it. Thanks so much to the mothership.

Dave - your question resonates....truth in how Moody responded....now he needs to get back to learning where the 2nd and 3rd frets of the guitar are. That'll keep him busy for a decade or two. My initial thoughts were to not have them (they really are not needed). When Darren did a couple quick color tests and showed photos of the sample color, he showed one without, and one with just a single upper, and both. I liked how they popped. There was also a hint of some hesitation on his part about including them or not....I think mostly from a "not deviating too far from the brand" point of view". In the end, I decided to add them, and in the future, if I want to - I can pull them off. I do not think he was comfortable with a totally blank face. If I can find it - I will text you a pic of the sample top without them.....a local called them angel wings...never saw them in that light - but I see it now....they do have that shape without the holes.

The wings are a must. I would have tried the epaulets with standard drills but filled with thin transparent acrylic glass plates.

I wonder how the large epaulets affect the resonance of the top.

I like the solid epie's. Beautiful guitar.
Had thought about ordering an EA-68 that way at one time as the acoustic value was nil anyway.

I don´t think so. The guitar top does not show so many movements in these areas, that´s why the Adamas has the soundholes there. I have 3 luthier-made wood guitars with these offset soundholes and they all are better than all other center-hole guitars I have.

Bill we would have to have them make another in in blue...then do a shoot out. Was it Gator who said the sunbursts sound better?
