The new latex string tubes are the best so far. Much thinner and allow the string to vibrate more but they do not work well with coated strings. Kinda doubles up on things and is overkill

Take my money!! But where can we buy these? I can only find the traditional string tubes.

Anyone can correct me if I've misunderstood the current situation but I'm not sure you can get them today. Trade issues on Peruvian latex has made the tubes go through the roof. If you have to ask, I'm sorry. You can't afford them.

High altitude. No ozone. Quite a pity, really.

Beal, I agree with you. But I found that if you take a piece of 300 grit sandpaper and gently remove the string coating in the area where it passes thru the string tube you can achieve the full benefit of the latex tubes.

Actually I'm not sure the original polypro tubes are even available anymore. Al might have some old stock available.

My urologist's nurse can get some slightly used ones. They won't be gold like Cliff's, but they will be expensive and slightly yellow.

I found a set you can cut to length, they can expand and shrink in diameter...if hungry - they don't taste bad.

Sorry, Charlie.. but you seem to have pulled a rope that started the string tube motor (again).

TAFKAR, just between you and I, I've been using the base of the feathers from an Emu. Cut them to length and a quick hollow-out and your done. Much better than synthetic or latex based tubes. But Muzza, from what I can remember, uses Echidna quills.

What are string tubes?

Charlie, there's a lot of B.S. going on in this thread and I'm feeling bad about it. Let me give you some clarification as this crew will twist around almost any subject and have fun with it.

Regarding all the fancy and exotic examples of string tubes, that's just all bull (sorry guys but somebody's gotta tell Charlie the truth). Your basic, non-fancy string tube will work just as well as the fancy stuff they are telling you about. Don't go plucking feathers or using high tech material tubes.

I'm really sorry you got sucked into this mess. Just use basic string tubes that you can find almost anywhere and you'll be fine

Now back to your regular scheduled programming........

I prefer silicone string tubes because they’re dishwasher safe.

In a pinch....
That little tube from a can of WD-40 can be used in an emergency.
