Subject: 1979 Model 1651 Pickup or Preamp Problem!

Just recently, the pickup on my stereo 1651 has begun acting strange. Every other string is much, much louder than other strings. And none of the strings have a uniform output. It's the same through either output jack. I've replaced the battery and nothing changes. Any ideas? Pickup? Preamp? Thanks in advance for the help!
