Hi. I have a 1974 Balladeer and want to remove the pickup that was installed. It will leave a hole in the black fiberglass back of the guitar. I was wondering what material you would recommend to fill the hole?

If you are talking about the hole for the 1/4" Jack...
There are little rubber plugs for filling empty spots in your dashboard, that you can get at Auto Zone, or whatever auto parts store is nearby.
Same for any holes for the knobs.
If you are referring to a big square hole left from an OP-24 preamp...
Plastic sheet material and the appropriate glue.

Helpful?

Thanks. Yes, it is just a hole where the jack was. I will try the plug. Sounds like a good idea if I can trim it flush with the body.

If you really want to seal the hole, I would apply tape from the back (assuming you can reach inside, and use something like JB Plastic Weld to fill the hole.  You can then carefully sand or frankly, if you are patient you can probably get it to form fit by hand while it's setting.  Then touch up with a marker.  If you do your work with magnifier lenses on, you should be able to make it invisible.
