Just wondering what string size folks here use on their ovation 12 strings. I’m currently using 10/47’s
But wonder if a size larger might sound better. Or do you worry about the added stress on the neck and top. I have a 6756lx, the 10/47’s sound a little muddy to me. I change strings regularly.
Just curious.

10-47's are a light gauge. I have an Adamas 1688 (24 years now). When I got it, I tried mediums and when they were on, I watched the belly bulge. Pulled them off and went back to 10-47's and have never looked back. I prefer the Elixir phos/bronze for a nice crisp sound.

I use Curt Mangan strings on most of my 12ers,what brand do you use?
Unless your tuning down to C I wouldn't go with a heavier gauge I'd look for a brighter string like the coated variety.
Experiment until you find the set that compliments your guitar best IMHO.

I also have a 6756lx and just use the stock d'addario exp lights on them. They are easy to play and sound quite nice to me though I wouldn't mind a bit more bass. But I don't expect that with a medium bowl.

I use Thomastik Infeld AC210 Spectrum-Strings on most of my 12ers. Very light gaugh, easy to play , very good sound , not very cheap but medium lasting,..., I love them!!

Thanks I haven’t tried the elixirs I think I will

An added benefit is that they last a long time. I change them about twice a year.....
