I have a Celebrity, model no. CC67, that I purchased brand new in the summer of 1986. It's an entry-level guitar that I was able to afford with some of my HS graduation gift cash, and it has been my only guitar ever since. I play it everywhere: in church, at weddings and other social gatherings, campfires, and the occasional coffeehouse gig. I haven't used the pickup in a while, and I went to plug in the other day and found it was not working. It's just a simple under-saddle piezo pickup with no pre-amp (so no battery) and just a volume knob and a tone knob. I have considered purchasing a new guitar (I think maybe I'm due), but haven't yet felt compelled to part with the cash required for what I really want. Would parts be available from Ovation to repair the pickup I have, or would replacing the pickup with something new, such as an OP Pro Series, be a better choice? The guitar is also due for a complete fret job, so the combination of that and a new pickup system would certainly cost more than I originally paid for the guitar. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Hello... You don't want to go cutting into your old friend.

It would probably be more financially sound to just get another guitar.
Unless you already have the Parts, you could do this at home.
You would need to cut the bowl to install the OP-Pro...

You could contact Ovation...
Or look on StewMac or eBay for Two-knob passive systems.

I used to own a CC57 that said "Celebrity" on the headstock.
I liked that it had a passive two knob system. No Battery, No Muss, No fuss.
