I'm kinda curious. What was the last new Ovation (not a used model new to you) that you purchased? When did you buy it? Do you still own it? What is your opinion of that guitar?

For me....

1778Lx elite (2004, I believe). I still own it. I like the mid-size bowl and enjoy the sound and playability. The woods on top are beautiful. I wouldn't even consider selling it. It's a great strummer.

Fall of 2018: Glen Campbell Artist reissue (Torrified Top) purchased new from Lost Art Vintage Instruments

I still own it and it's a darn nice instrument. Build quality is top notch. No Artist depth Ovation is ever going to sound like a nice old X or A braced Deep bowl. But for what it is, and what it was designed for (comfort and plugging in) it was a good choice.

A year or two ago I bought a new Applause to donate for a signed fundraiser. Bought it from Damon at Red Blanket. Played it for a few days...it was better than it should have been, considering it was just a couple hundred bucks. It now hangs on a wall in Saskatoon. Prior to that I bought two of the newest anniversary guitars - a legend and a folklore. Bought them from Al at Lost Art. Both are very well made guitars. Still own both, the 12 fretter is on loan to a touring musician - I think currently in the Pacific Rim.

The last brand new one was a Deluxe Elite (I think that's what it was) that I bought for my nephew in late 2017. He chose it from Sweetwater's website and I had it shipped directly to him, and have only seen it once during a visit there. I have no regret in the purchase, or problem with the quality for the total price ($459 it seems) complete with shipping and warranty, and it plays and sounds just peachy.

Wow....
My last "NEW" new USA Ovation was the Sweet T (2078-CK) with the Koa Epaulet, bought in 2008.
I also got an FRG K1111 in 2009. I sold that K1111.
I also sold the Sweet T to Jukebox Joe, and somehow bought it back from Slipkid.
So I got that back... But it is not "NEW" anymore. I am the first and fourth owner.

Otherwise... out of all my current guitars, only only the Seagulls were bought factory new.
Wow.

Can’t really remember. I bought something like 8 new guitars from Al over maybe a five year period, all custom orders or limited runs, but I’m not sure which one was last. If I had to guess, I’d say it was the custom Koa topped VXT. Still have it for sure. Two other customs, the 1187 SSB and Hamer Monaco III with Jason Lollards remain my primary gigging gear. I also still occasionally use the Takamine 760 custom ordered through Al with direct assistance from Mike Markure.

The 1678AV50. Nice guitar with a wonderful neck and great sound for a middepth bowl. I love it.

Also a 1617ALE, 21/50, bought from Al a few years ago. I wanted Legend with a cutaway in sunburst, so it fit the bill at a great deal from Al. It has a slightly high 14th fret that I only noticed after I took the shims out, so I need to put one back in.

Adamas 1687GT last year from Red Blanket. And the year before that an Adamas Viper hybrid and an Adamas 1198AV40. Still have and love all 3. If you forced me at gun point to only have one acoustic guitar it would be the 1687GT. I have a number of great USA made O's and A's but the 1687GT is the best of the bunch. The Viper is superb. It would be hard to choose between it and the Hamer Newport Pro, though they have different missions and personalities. I think my Viper is really a pre-production item from the custom shop, and I don't know if they have made any more since then. The 1198 is a beautiful piece of art as well as having a unique voice. A bit mellow, but very pleasing.

in january 2006 i won a n.o.s. adamas cb mill on e-bay . there were two o.f.c members who were bidding on the same guitar . i won it.
there was quite a bit of controversy on the forum about if it was morally right for o.f.c. club members to bid against each other on the same guitar.
interesting times. that is the last new ovation i bought. GWB.

About four years ago I bought the last of the 14 fret LAV Koas from Lost Art Vintage for a good price. As the top has opened up I've really become quite attached to it. Really wanted the 12 fretter, then Prof BB tempted me into buying his. Don't actually have my hands on it yet, hopefully I will pick it up in the next few months.

Last new one I bought was a 1617ALE (#6 of 50) from Lost Art Vintage. It’s an awesome guitar.

Adamas Kaki King that I got for a ridicoulus price because of a small crack in the bowl, near the preamp, that was easily fixed.

Love that woman, her music and the guitar.

In 79 or 80, I bought a 1624 new. It didn't take me long to figure out the used ones sounded as good as the new ones for a fraction of the cost.

I don't know whether to label this a new guitar or a used guitar. In late 2014 I traded a 2004 30th Custom Legend that had sat on a music store wall for almost 10 years, purchased by a good friend just to hold it until he could find it a home. Sold it a year ago. The guitar i traded for it, I bought new in 2006, a 1773LX custom. The next new guitar I got was one of the 12 original OFC slotheads. It's gone also. Before that, in 1996 I bought my 1994 Adamas I 12 string. Still have it. Before that I've got to go back to 1979.
