Yeah, we only made around 30. This has been sitting for years, may even be one my father had. Oh, that would make it even more rare! Better make it 2000. (lol)

Surely someone needs to give themselves a Christmas present?

Any chance at getting some photos?

If I bought this one I'd have 10% of all the PFs...

Well give me an email address and I’ll send some. Never did figure out how to post here, it’s not as easy as farcebook

Of course if you have others you know what it looks like

Hopefully, this link will work, for those curious, as to what a PF-22 looks like.

I for one didn't know.. but now I do. Thanks for the link. Too bad I already bought myself a Christmas present. I mean, who wouldn't want new crank thrust bearings on their work truck for Christmas instead of a nice rare Ovation? (it's a damn cruel world)

This one is just like that except they are single coil pickups. but staggered, like the Fender Custom. And while they are single coil they are hum bucking. They were Magnum rear pickup bobbins. We just drilled another hole between the two magnets so there were three. Then offset the two so they are hum bucking sideways, not front to back. Got the idea talking with Dave Fiester of the Henry Paul band and he had a Fender custom, which was their left over parts from the solid body 12 strings.

Hi Beal:
That's a very cool guitar. Any way we can hear a sample from it?
I'll check youtube. Is this guitar is called an Ovation PF22?

Yes, it is the pf22 in honor of Hartley. I won’t be in the studio till next year but can do something then. Of course if it sounds too good then we won’t want to sell it!

Beal, is this the one I had (in the picture) that made it's way back to you, or were there more than one with that pickup config?

Several with those pickups, in fact most. But for the first time the hole was of the size that would accept other after market pickups, something that "marketing" was against. I probably got this one from you, I don't really remember where it came from. My father had one for a long time. I never play it and it's time to move the dead wood

That's interesting that several were made with these pickups.  Like a lot of Ovation history, we learn something new every day.  I wonder where they all are?  I have only ever seen one with that pickup configuration, all the rest had standard humbuckers with the exception of the one with rails..

I'm still on the hunt for an Ovation microphone, not because I need one, but because I've never seen one except for on display at a music store in Middletown back in the day and in the catalogs.  Ok... I need one..
