Location: Michigan | just before i retired 5 years ago the wife and i went back to our lawyer and made up a new will and trust so there wont be any issues upon our passing.
she doesn't know anything about my guitars,amps and equipment so we agreed to will them to a young friend of mine that i worked with that has helped me out tremendously in my last 5 years of work and was in the same boat i was in my early thirties, cheap guitars and no money to get nicer ones.
needless to say now that i am in a position to afford nicer ones he encourages me to go out and do it.
there wont be any fighting over that and i know all of it is going to a good home.
by the way we do not have any kids to leave them to so i am great with that. GWB  |

FYI.. I'm up for adoption!
Locating the first half-dozen of mine would be easy for my relatives since they are on wall hangers in the studio, but finding the special ones would be like an Easter egg hunt because I have them stashed in "soft" places (like surrounded by clothes on low racks or linens in a closet) since us crazy Californians have to constantly be aware of earthquakes and the damage that can be wreaked upon fragile items like guitars falling from stands, and I no longer have enough hard cases or studio wall space to go around. Just one of the perils of GAS, I suppose.

Location: 6 String Ranch | the only problem with having them in a will is they need to get valued before passing on to someone. The number gets big enough that could be tax issues. Best to have a younger friend designated to dispose them where you want

Location: When?? | All of this got me thinking, so I have invented a machine, and left instructions in my will to have the machine installed. It works like this..
First, they bury me with my 1112 CB (my very first "love O fair" that I've always said cannot be pried even from my dead, cold hands) with the bowl between the legs and the headstock under the chin. Then, on the top of the coffin lid are four 14" slots, through which runs set of four "plunger" rods. On the guitar end of the rods are rubber tips that flex and depress at any given location on and/or across the neck. There is also an additional 4" slot running perpendicular to the other slots, with six more rods. These I call the "plucker-strummer" rods. All rods extend upward above terrain and connect to the machine that sits on top of the grave. The machine has thermometers and wind mills and rain gauges and a host of other meteorological gadgetry that are all read by a solar-powered computer which, in turn, runs servos on the rods.. and presto.. the guitar plays. Eventually my dead ears learn different songs from different atmospheric conditions, and in the end, not only will I have music down there, I will know the weather report. Sorry.. maybe I should have posted this in the BFLG.. but yeah.. I'm takin' it with me.
PS: Oh great. I should have never told my wife about this. Now she wants to be buried with her tuba.
