I have a question about the differences between a Glen Campbel model (6 strings, steel - i dont know if had exist with cut-way or not, I only know the 1627 - with no cut-way) and anothers models around the same year of fabrication. The sound is different? Whats the difference? Things like this ... Because, sometimes, changes the structure but the sound continue exactaly the same. Someone can help me, please ? Tks so much.

Various Ovation and Adamas models have been made with-- different types of wood, materials and sound hole configurations on the tops (cutaway or not), different bracing patterns inside.. bowl depths/shapes.. fingerboard hardware.. electronic packages.. types of strings.. how the guitar has been cared for.. the list goes on and on, and each factor can cause a significant change in the sound across any particular range of models. I realize that this is an obvious and generic answer, but there ya go. Edited by Love O Fair 2019-10-23 10:53 AM

If that is indeed the question, then you have to remember that the 1627 (and 1127) were designed for COMFORT, not TONE. The Artist shallow bowl and the VT bracing are not your best friends if you are interested in acoustic unplugged sound. The Balladeer (X braced) and Custom Legend (A braced) would be my preferred choices of the same era.

By the fall of 1969, they were building the GC with an artist depth bowl and never went back to a GC with a deep bowl. Glen, however, in 73 or 74, started playing a deep bowl acoustic only A braced Legend and never went back to the artist bowl depth...... Edited by moody, p.i. 2019-10-23 5:56 PM

Joined: October 2018 Location: Curitiba/PR Brazil | Dear friends. Thank you all for the attention. I'm here in Curitiba, state (county) of Paraná- Brazil My country is the the land of Samba and Bossa Nova, and always played with the nylon guitars. I do these rhythms with my steel ovation to innovate the rhythms/sounds/tunes, and I liked so much - pretty cool. I has been a fan of Ovation's since I was a teenager, in the early 1980's. I bought my GC a year ago (probably made in 1981 year). Recently a renowned luthier in my town regained his scale and changed the frets. It’s just made my dream come true – now, PERFECT ! Thank you for the informations.

Your guitar has A bracing (which means very good acoustic tone compared to the older VT braced guitars), and is listed as having a shallow bowl. Older catalogs from the 70's listed it as having an artist depth bowl (1/4" shallower). The switch to A bracing and a slightly deeper bowl made a huge difference in acoustic tone. Congrats on a great find!
