Hi there,

I'm new to this forum. I don't really have a history with Ovation guitars, but back in my school days I played my friend's Ovation every now and then. Never owned one myself, but last week I got an Applause AE-32 from my mother-in-law. It used to be her late cousin's, who passed away recently.

The guitar plays and sounds OK considering the age and wear of the strings. The frets are fine and I think after a quick truss rod adjustment and with a set of new strings it should be a very enjoyable guitar.

I'd just like to date it somewhat and I'm not sure the Ovation serial key I found here is applicable to Applause guitars. The serial is 058050, it's got the old headstock and an output jack but no controls. I guess it's a passive system, isn't it? On the blue label inside the body it says "A KAMAN MUSIC PRODUCT – applause – Model No. AE-32".
