| Hello Ovation fans,
I just registered and I am new to this Ovation forum. My name is Stephane and I play the guitar.
The reason I am posting here is that I know hardly anything on Ovation guitars and I am trying to find information on a guitar I recently got in a trade: a 1999 Ovation Balladeer Special S 771-W.
Serial number is in the 539 000 range and I found this dates the guitar back to 1999. I also know it's American made as it says so on the inside label. The preamp is the op24+ model.
I see secondhand Ovations Balladeer ranging from $250 to $750 depending on specificities I don't understand.
Could someone help me? In particular: - Is my guitar a high end guitar or not? - Is it sought after? - As it is in good condition, what would be a reasonable resale value?
Many thanks for the support and apologies if this is not the right place to post this thread.

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | Your S771 is a "Special" Balladeer, or Balladeer Special.
I am unclear as to what the "W" is in your guitar's designation.
(Wood Rosette, maybe)
I believe that the Original Special Balladeers were satin finish Cedar topped, and not very expensive.
(that was the "Special" part)
Later in time, different editions... Some have Spruce tops, some have Cedar.
Then there are the Guitar Center editions, and the LX editions.
AS to Price... There is the Price that people are ASKING...
And then there is the Price that people are GETTING.
One just sold on eBay for $289.99 plus shipping.
There were others listed on Reverb for $900 but sold for a lower offer.
If the guitar is located in Japan or Europe, that raises the price.
Is your guitar a "High End" guitar? > No, not really.
Is it sought after? > Yes, by people in the know.
I currently own a GCS771-C... Guitar Center model, Cedar top.
I paid less than $300 Used in 20015... So, Price is not really Logical.
My GCS771 is a Great guitar.
