Hello everyone,
I have a '99 Standard Balladeer s771 that I got used. The guy before me had it set up with silk steel strings. I recently decided to change them out to extra light elixers and needed to adjust the truss rod some, but it doesn't tighten enough. I backed the nut all the way off to see if I could put a washer in there, and saw that if I do the washer needs to be not much bigger than the nut to fit in the channel. Before I go through the trouble of custom making some spacer (I have some metal working abilities), would this be the right solution? Why is my truss rod bottoming out on a set of 10's? If I had the funds to spare on a luthier, I know that woudl be best, but for now, I am hoping you guys may be able to get me in the right direction. Thanks!
