A) I didn't even read past the first line.
B)I "believe" (which means I really don't know, but think)the 'overpopulation will crush us' theory has been refuted by evidence, but bottom line- as people ( any culture/country) become more well off financially, they have less children. Population has been growing, but the rate of growth has been slowing as more countries become wealthier in general.
C) I am fairly certain the problem will fix itself, one way or another.

Just as a side thought, I wonder what the first guitar in space will Be???????? I know what it should be, of course.

peace mike

and the darwin awards movie was priceless....

Fugot-- " Just as a side thought, I wonder what the first guitar in space will Be???????? I know what it should be, of course."

Tup-- "First guitar in space was a Solo-ette."

As soon as I read the question, my thought was "No-one has brought a guitar yet? They brought a golf club to the Moon!"

Glad you guys asked and answered the question.

OK. I read the first sentence, looked at the list of 'headings' and hit the 'back' button.

I really couldn't be bothered.

Anyone actually read it and feel like summarising?

Muzza - I read one atritcle that said there are twenty ways for the earth to be destroyed - my list above was a few of them for which I put in my own two cents.

Basically, from the little that I did read - the earth is over populated that will lead to its demise. This group is saying for people to slow down the population by not having children - that is just one of the things they proposes.

I couldn't get through the rest of it :)

This has been tried before, the Shakers, a protestant group forever associated with New York State, believed in celebacy, and that if no one had children it would be the end of the world and Jesus would come again. They are also known for their elegant style in architecture and furniture, influencing such people as Frank Lloyd Wright ...

For you history buffs, prior to 1870, New York State was the California of Religion's, cooking up all kinds of new ideas. I reckon our most famous creation was mormanism.

As ecclesiastes says ... there's nothing new under the sun.

And then there was that rival tribe, The Movers. They believed in reproducing like rabbits in an effort to fend off the very return of Hey-Sus. Then one day the Movers and the Shakers teamed up and formed California and basically nothing east of the rockies has mattered since. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Incidentally, I'm reading a book by Alan Weisman entitled, 'The World Without Us'. It supposes humans are instantly gone from the planet, and systematically examines the processes by which Earth would reclaim that which humans created- He explains in detail how our infrastructure would collapse- what becomes of plastic- effects on the ocean, climate etc... Very well researched, written and a fascinating read...

EarthII! . . NOW! with "Styrofoam"!!!

Yeah, I heard Weisman on the radio.

One of the hazards of being stuck in an office all day, is that I have a radio on constantly, and I've compiled about five or six desk blotters worth of scribblings of book titles that I'll never get around to buying/reading . . .

Jeanette's reading one now that I bought on such an impulse on the history of the construction of St. Peter's Basilica.

Personally, I look forward to the end of the world.
I don't wanna die alone. I like the idea of a few billion people going with me!
I miss the Cold War. The concept of everyone going in a Nuclear Flash was kinda Romantic...
