the guitar I thought was a mis-labeled N768 arrived today... due to very poor(or wrong) pictures by the seller and I guess little knowledge and not great descriptive skills..

I did inform him prior to the sale what features were on a Nakao and I thought it was a less shiny version...

anyway... it IS an N768 ser#4570xx, it is horribly filthy and is
missing 2 strings.. a couple of long finish cracks swirling around the lower bout and bridge, and a hard ding on the top of the headstock, and some scuffs..

this time the guitar was shipped to me in the case, wrapped in one layer of bubble wrap, then brown paper, then sealed in clear tape/saran wrap..

all of the feet on the bottom of the case are blown out.. but otherwise it and the guitar survived..

so far my scariest deliveries have held some of the nicest surprises...

this one IS going to the mothership for a refin..

before and after pics coming soon... at least pre and post clean-up for now..

Thanks,

the seller was nice, and we did correspond many times.. so I guess he was ok with the price or needed to sell it pretty bad...

anyway eventually it will need the fretboard(definitely been a player) planed, a re-fret, and the top re-finished to get rid of the pencil-tip dings, and the finish cracks.. but looks like I was destined to own one of these...

and this one isn't stamped "USED" on the headstock..

I've got JB at the mothership checking the ser# to dig up it's history if any is available

just realized I didn't have any extra sets of strings in the house for a/e... at least 6 string.. so will let you know how it plays when I get back from J. Michael's...

I'm not complaining about condition or the busted case at $410 shipped.

Perhaps we need to organize/delegate the BFLG membership. Procurement/Acquisition, Engineering, Troubleshooting, Fabrication, Logistics, & Conjectural Analysis (probably me!)
Great find, Glenn!
I will be posting images of my latest fiasco soon- an 1115-morphed-1114, complete with Waverly tuners!

I just got word from the seller...

and he did confirm the original pictures for the auction were of another guitar that he had sold and thought was the same model...

I did offer it back to him if he was having any remorse.. with the new and confirmed identification..

he wished me and the guitar well.. and hoped that it would be played and enjoyed.

he was surprised at it's relative rarity tho.

Half-a-set of 12's will work, and you can use the other half for Hillbilly tuning...

yessir.. I do appreciate that... but I'm always looking for an excuse to go to J's..... no O's but
lot's of new D'aquisto's, Breedlove's, Seagull's, Takamine's, Godin's, etc.. etc.. custom luthier's... and some very vintage jazz boxes... out of my BFLG price range... but fun to go in and play and marvel at... and he's a really nice guy..

just moved his repair/luthiery/restoration shop off-site so he could put in a stage and a cozy little performance area..(seats about 40) and lot's of artist's are stopping in and holding workshops etc..
