Played an Ultra at GC yesterday. I liked it. It needed a least one less shim but that's an easy fix. Loud enough, nice enough tone, and with the contour bowl, very comfortable. The solid spruce top was not near as nice as my AD-II, but nice enough. The sound hole bling was not inlaid, but it did not look cheap. In all ways nicer than the Celebs that were there. (BTW... they were blowing out cherry burst Celebs for $313.)
I dunno... These Ultras might be carving out a new nitch in the market for themselves. Like the EliteT... a lot of bang for the buck.

Then I played a J100 JUMBO Gibson. Can't speak about the one that was made just before or just after, but this one was very nice. VERY loud... lots of sustain..... pleasant tone. But damn, that thing is HUGE!!!
The warrenty on craftsmanship and material defects was printed right there on the lable. Seemed a odd place to put that.

Lastly... it's been a tough kinda week. We had to put the Sophie The Wonderdog down last monday. Very much unexpected. So, Pam & I just decided we are getting out of the house for the weekend. We don't know where we are going, we're just getting in the car turning the key. If you are within driving distance of Algonac, please leave the porch light on. We just might be looking for a place to crash late at night.

I am also sorry about Sophie Brad. It's tough to loose a dedicated, ever loving, never questioning, best friend.

May the trip allow you to revisit the good times and great memories!

Sorry about the loss, Brad. Been through it more times than I'd like to remember and it's always tough. If you're looking for someplace to run away to, we're about 12 hrs away but it's going to be a stunning weekend, the pool is spotless, the grill is warming up and the cooler is full... ;)

Sorry about the loss Brad. Went through this a couple of months ago and it hurts. Getting away with your Mrs is a good idea. All the best.

I feel bad for you, Brad. I never had a dog until a few months ago and that damn puppy has completely taken over my life (in a good way). If the house is on fire first I grab the Collings, then I grab the dog. The wife can fend for herself and plus, the dog is probably a better cook. I can't imagine how hard it was for you (and others that have had to do the same). There's a set of sad eyes and a wet nose out there looking for the kind of home that you can offer. Do it.

It's been almost a year since we but down Charlie (The Wonder Dog, not Kaman) and I still cry about it at times. I know how much it hurts, Brad.

Don't give it too much time before you give another dog a good home. Once you've opened your heart to a dog, there's a hole there when it's gone that can only be filled by another dog.

Our new golden, Zoey, channels Charlie at times so much that it's scary.....

Sure he is, Brad - it's just going to take a little longer for you to open the right door. But, when you do, he'll be there waiting for you.
