Hello and thank you for letting me join the site.

I am thinking of getting the standard balladeer% I want the deep contour large bowl back.

What is your opinion of this guitar (2771AX)

Is it a good guitar? How does it compare to the less expensive models?

How does it compare to the more expensive, USA models?

Should I spend more to get the USA model?

Ovation appeals to me because of the higher string tension and the playability.

Unfortunately all the music stores in my area only stock the less expensive models so I haven’t actually been able to try either the 2771AX or the USA models.

Thanks for your help and thanks for this great resource

Hi Errk,

Most members can't post in the Welcome section (it's an anti-troll, anti-advertising feature). Like anything, quality is reflected by price - pay more get more, but there is a law of diminishing returns, and most people have only so much money to spend. You'll get more guitar for your money with a USA model, but the Asian models are definitely improving.

If you hit your price limit, you may still do well buying a second hand USA Ovation - if you trust the source. One of the owners of this board has a good collection of second hand Ovations: www.lostartvintage.com so have a browse there before you commit. I've bought several guitars from him sight-unseen, without any regrets.

If you are not in a hurry, you could watch the for sale section on this site - if I had more money there would have been several things I'd have snapped up.
