I came across a Monterey guitar for sale in West Australia on the weekend and looks like a direct copy of my Celebrity CS247. The only difference I can see from photo's is Monterey written on the head stock which is (ovation shaped) The gold tuners are tarnished ... the pre-amp is AR TINX .. 3 Equ / tuner (Black rectangular plastic) but difficult to read when photo enlarged. Bridge shape ... inlays on neck are all the same ..... can anyone enlighten me, Thanks Baggy

Nothing all too profound in terms of quality. I have seen them mimicked as both Fender Stratcaster and Gibson Les Paul , but this is the first one I have heard of along the Ovation/Celebrity line. Interesting. Do you have a photo or a link? PS Edit--- Here's a link to one I found on YouTube for the Stratocaster version-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T84V9RwnETs Edited by Love O Fair 2019-02-18 9:09 AM

(it gets points for that) Straight-pull headstock, with a pseudo-duckbill. Just like Ovation. It is a copy. But if it sounds good and the price is right...

Monterey Electric guitars are fairly common knock offs here ... but this is the first I've come across. Almost ... interested in buying it but I'd rather save my hard earned $$$ to purchase an Ovation Balladeer. Baggy

I suppose if it played well ... that would be scary ... maybe it could be a rough and tumble guitar that you could take to a campfire or similar. I'm not into abusing guitars and would look after it the same way as my Ovation .... one thought is it allows you to keep the good gear at home ... then again an Ovation should be seen, heard and appreciated. Food for thought ...... Baggy

I have a Celebrity Deluxe Trekker, which is a tiny Celebrity. So... If the price was right, I would have bought it in the past. It is not an Ovation... But if it sounds good for a hundred bucks, buy it.

Similar to my Landrover ownership - I own a 1981 2 Door Range Rover Classic and 1992 4 Door Range Rover Classic and belong to online forum ... like this forum most have more than one too I'll keep an eye on facebook market place and see if price drops. Like B/Cam I'd like another Ovation ... I have to squirrel monies away to afford one and they are rare here. Seeing some of your forum members (lists of guitars and photo's) is a sight to behold and a treat to see so many lovely examples. Appreciate your thoughts, Baggy

We've done a few small OFC gatherings, and would be happy for an excuse to do so again if you get over this way. It would be worth it to have a play on TAFKAR's '08C and my Ute. ;-)

Humble collection... pffft. It's a collection of some of the best, including a couple of Adamases, and a limited edition koa topped OFC one. Your collection might be small in size (it's still bigger than my pair of Os), but there's nothing humble about any of those guitars, trust me
