Hello fellow O Fans;
Anyone know anything about Ovation UK II electric guitars? I've been looking at a beautiful white one on Reverb but don't want to buy an electric that looks awesome but is really a stinker when it comes to tone.

Any knowledgeable opinions would certainly be welcome.
Thanks!

Jim

Ask Damon. He seems to be addicted to them.

There are tons of OFC references in an archive search. Very highly regarded instrument.

Especially the white ones. Jump on it. They are great guitars, but what do I know, I just used to sell jet fuel.........

Very unique guitars. I’ll be selling mine in a tobacco burst finish in month or two here, but it isn’t white. Those are beautiful.

I'm surprised Damon doesn't own it. White may be the most rare of the UK2s. I got mine out the other day for the first time in a long time and thought one pickup wasn't working. I had forgotten it had two input jacks and I'd plugged it into the stereo jack. Pretty soon I'd spent an hour just making noise. They are incredible guitars.

There are three white models for sale on Reverb at the moment, but only one sunburst. Just sayin’.

Thanks guys. I just made an offer. I'll know shortly if I'm the proud new owner of a white UK II.

OK...I'm officially in the UK II club. Should have my new 40 yr old guitar in a week.
Anyone know what the little Slide Switches are for (located nest to each pickup)? Coil Taps???

Thanks.

Jim

No need for a second white one.

And to the original poster's question, I've had literally hundreds of guitars pass through these doors and none have ever done for me what a UKII can. I've been playing them for 37 years now... damn I'm getting old

Here's a rather long improv, but a great one to show some luscious drippy UKII sound. I like the first 4 and last 4 minutes best...

My first youtube... Jeezus, 10 years ago? Sound quality isn't the best, but it shows the raw poer of a UKII. I'm doing this Ozzy tune with zero effects through a Carvin X100B. I do add some delay and overdrive for the solo. It's recorded with the mic on a laptop, so I apologize for the quality.

And here's the white one... accompanied by a Magnum and an Elite LX

Series/Parallel

Flipped towards the bridge, it's a brighter sound, almost single coil-ish.

Wow. Thanks Damon and Nancy. I feel inspired now. Historically, I've been acoustic only but always loved electrics as well. Time to learn something new and it looks like my new UK II is going to be a great way to roll.
