Based on their criteria of popularity, tone, and longevity it's hard to argue with the list even if one doesn't agree with the order. However, for "top 10" guitars based on innovation, quality, playability and tone.. there is a completely different list. I have never had any desire to own any of the guitars on this list. My first electric was a Tiesco Del Rey from my parents and when I bought my first electric guitar with my own money it was '77 and an Ovation Viper. Since then Ovation, BC Rich or more specifically Neal Moser guitars have been my primary interest. I really like and have owned Hamer guitars but never got one to really speak to me enough to keep it. For the past few years now my Line6 JTV-89F has been my main guitar and lately, the only other guitar that I'd really like is an Ibanez Jiva.

My honorable mention guitars would be by Godin, Paul Reed Smith and Nik Huber.

Does owning half of the list constitute support?

It's hard to disagree with much of that video except for one major thing. The Strat and Les Paul should be reversed in order.

As usual, I'm the odd man out around here.. but of those on the list I've ever played/owned, my fave is the SG. And I'm also with Miles on the BC Rich thing.

Since someone posted this list in the YouTube comments, I’ll paste it here for anyone not inclined to watch the video:

10. Gibson Explorer 0:48
9. Ibanez Jem 2:07
8. Gibson Flying V 3:25
7. Rickenbacker 300 Series 4:40
6. Gibson SG 5:36
5. Gretsch 6120 6:48
4. Gibson ES-335 7:54
3. Fender Telecaster 9:00
2. Fender Stratocaster 10:13
1. Gibson Les Paul 12:14

“Popularity, tone, longevity”?
These kind of lists are always debatable, but
I’d keep a Ric 12-string on my list. (Very distinctive sound that seems to resurface regularly in popular music.)

I’m an SG fan also, but that list seems a bit overly Gibson-centric?
