Hello,

My name is Richard and I am new to this forum.

I just got a beautiful used Ovation 2771AX Standard Balladeer which sounds great but there seems to be a problem with the OP Pro Pre-amp. The battery is new, the tuner works fine but I just can't here the guitar when hooked up to the amplification system. If I apply pressure on the OP then loud popping and crackling noise comes out of my PA system. It's as if the contacts are faulty. Has anyone had this issue before?

Thanks in advance!

can you try another preamp?
you may just have a bad one.
I have them in stock if you need one.

Did you check the output jack where it plugs-into the can (housing of the preamp) from inside the sound-hole?

Sorry for the delay, I thought I would receive an email with followup questions. Unfortunately I do not have access to another preamp. I pulled out the can and checked the 2 jacks and they are hooked up correctly. I live in Portugal, so overseas shipping would be held in customs for sure. The weird thing is the crackling sound when I press on the pre amp, as if there is a bad contact. Does the preamp come with the housing also, because I do not know if the problem is with the preamp or the circuit board in the can.I attached a photo os a similar preamp

Thank you for your time.
