Hi all, nice site. Glad to see there's some life left in Ovations.

Help please. I just bought an 1127 Glen Campbell, nice old guitar. It's got a funny serial number. Has anyone figured out the M prefix serial number guitars? This one has a New Hartford label with model # and Serial # M 10x. Seems likely that makes it from '69-'70 but I'd like to know for sure.

FWIW, I've liked Ovations for a long time. I still have the Balladeer that jumped off the music store wall into my arms in '72 as well as a Custom Legend from the '90s that has more bling than a D-45.

Here is a dating chart from Ovation Tribute...

You are correct. I think...
I have owned an Artist Balladeer with an "M" serial number, and the general consensus said 1970.

Thanks for the response. Looks like that may be as close as it gets on the date. Is there any information if any of the serial number prefixes had any significance beyond what is in the comments on the serial number chart? The posting that the M serial numbered guitars were made by Glen Campbell's mother when he was on tour was funny. Suppose Ks were made his Kids and Gs by his Granny

I've got the same problem. I acquire more guitars, the talent doesn't seem to come with them, but they all know the same bad licks.
