I only have deep bowl Ovations (no Adamas) and am wondering about the unplugged sound and how bright is the sound compared to the deep bowl. I probably will play this guitar plugged in 80% of the time so may not matter. Price wise I can get it for about 1000 USD. Is that a good price? I can't find much info about these guitars and maybe someone on here can help. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Yes, it would be "brighter" than a deep bowl because a deep bowl has more bass. If the guitar is in good condition, any Adamas is worth a thousand bucks.

Congrats!!! good find those are sweet 12 strings, not as powerful as a deep bowl but great tone and the SSBs are super comfortable to play, sounds like you got it for a good price,if your not happy with I'll buy it off ya

The ssb has a surprisingly full acoustic tone with enough basses (not to compare with the 12 string legend) to play like a "normal" guitar, maybe the best of all Ovation ssb guitars. The 1885 is the only 12 string guitar that I play with concert pitch because it´s very easy to play, I choose it mostly for fingerpicking styles, but it can be very, very "funky" also! I only find it strange to hold when I play standing because the guitar tends to slip backward a bit. I changed the original tuning machines with schaller M6 mini with wood knobs because they are lighter and you can have them with shorter axles for a better string angle on the nut. 1000 $ ? This excellent guitar is worth every penny.

The pictures look good but we'll see once I can get my hands on it. I have a Custom Legend 12 1658 that is the hands down best 12 string I have ever heard especially amped. It is getting old and the neck angle is getting pretty bad. It was my late brother's guitar so I wanted to get something else to play and only use the 1658 for special occasions. Hopefully this will work and am encouraged by all the positive comments. One last thing. I assume this is an Adamas II because of the simple bridge and Ovation neck? I haven't been able to find out much about this particular model. I'm a spec junkie so that's why I'm asking.
