Hi guys,

my name is Aitor and I'm from Barcelona (Spain). My father has an Ovation Folklore 1614 since I was a little kid and a year ago I decided to start playing guitar, so he lent me his guitar to learn how to play.

When I looked inside to change the battery, I saw that the battery had been sitting there for years and now the metallic holder is full of acid and rusty I went to two guitar repair shops in my city and neither of them could repair it or they were giving me the option to replace the whole thing with a new velcro system, since all the guitar is in its original shape, I would like it to stay original and try to repair this thing (I'm not a guru but it doesn't look that complicated, does it?)

So here goes my question, do you know of any store/website where I could get a replacement for the battery holder? (is the old metallic one, you can see it in the pictures below)
Has anyone had the same problem and could fix it without having to change the whole thing?

Doing some research I found that some Folklore models use a plastic battery box, will that fit in my guitar? Could this be another solution?

Thanks a lot in advance,
Aitor

Welcome Aitor,

First try the Ovation Repair Shop... I am not sure if it has closed yet.
800-552-4681 choose Darrell when they ask who you want to talk to.
I am not sure if the Repair Shop is still open.

If that don't work,
Contact Al at Lost Art Vintage.
He might have a correct part lying around.

You could also try GEWA guitars in Europe.

Or, finally, tell your guitar repair guys to get one of THESE
and attach it to the remains of your old battery holder.

I won't recommend a battery bag and Velcro...
Even tho' that was my first choice.

Hi Old Man Arthur,

Thanks a lot for your quick answer, that gives me still hope to repair it and keeping it as original as it was. I will let you know what happens next.

Have a nice day and thanks again!
