I hadn't seen it. I was thinking mine was a 1973, but I'll have to go back and look. The picture of the broken truss rod cover reminded me that mine is broken also and I need to get a new one. Finally, this reminded me that I wanted to at least try a Viper 3 and saw one recently for sale at a reasonable price, but it was right after I bought another guitar from Al and didn't want to get in any more trouble.
Maybe if I wasn't so forgetful I wouldn't have so many reminders.

FWIW, the guitar in that pic is closer to 1980. That's about then the new bridges came out. I bought my first one new in '78 and it still had the original brass bridge.
