Location: Jacksonville Florida | Hi everyone, I obtained my first and only Ovation Applause Model AE 45 in a trade with a customer when I worked at Atlantic Self Storage in Jacksonville as a resident manager of a 4 story all A/C building with 755 units of varying sizes ranging from 5x5 all the way up to 10x30's. As a resident, they gave me a free 10x10 storage unit plus a small apartment with 2 tiny bedrooms and 1 small one. Our furniture barley fit in our apartment, which is not the norm for most of the apartments. I worked there for 7 years and left for a better job as they only pay minimum wage plus overtime. I wanted to know the value of it. I'm not going to sell it as it is the first Ovation I was able to afford and I traded with items customers left behind for me to sell. My wife took this picture below and I took the picture of the model number. The Serial Number is 2711749
Thanks for the help guys and gals... Look forward to your reply's.
How do you post a picture of something in a thread. I see "Attach a file after posting" that I will try. |

If you have that photo on another "hosting site" (photobucket, picassa, etc) you can post the web address and we could go there to see your photo.
You can just tell us the model number.
And if this serial number is correct, this is an Asian-made guitar.
USA made Ovations have had 6 digits since 1972.

Location: Jacksonville Florida | Thanks. I did see it was made in China. The model # is AE 48, probably the cheapest Ovation. Can you tell the year variation through the serial numer I provided? Thanks, Mark. I will try to post pictures tonight when I get back. |

By the AE part that would be an "Applause".
If you gutiar sez "Ovation" on the headstock it is of more recent manufacture.
Also, if your headstock looks like an "Ovation" headstock it is of more recent manufacture.
Older Applause have "lumpy" headstocks.
Then the Applause went to the "split tail" headstock.
Then it went to the "Duck Bill" Ovation headstock.
We look forward to your photos.
