I have an old Model 1117 that I purchased in 1982 from a music store. I'm trying to date it and now I'm confused. The serial number is 210335. All the serial lookups I've seem have 1979 going to 203xxx and then 1980 starts at 211xxx. I don't see 210xxx anywhere.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Just as a guess, I would say that you guitar was made late in 1979, or early in 1980.
I am sure that Ovation just continued to assign serial numbers in order back then.
The "Date your Ovation" serial number lists were created later in the 20th Century.
I don't think that Kaman or Ovation was very diligent about saving things "for history" back then.
Y'know... You usually do not know that you are "Making History" when you are doing it.

Thanks, that's certainly the logical conclusion. Just really threw me that there was this huge gap in serial numbers

"Trying to date guitar"

Talk nicely.
Listen.
Don't discuss any of your previous guitars or how many you are currently playing.

When her sister shows up try not to stare...
