The new movie "Into The Wild" is now playing in theaters nationally. My daughter Kaki King contributed music to the score, as did Eddie Vedder. Adapted from a best-selling book, the film is based on a true story of a young man who graduated from Emory University, then literally disappeared into the wilds of the western US and ultimately Alaska. The movie is entertaining as well as serious and thought-provoking.

The film has been favorably reviewed by many of the country's biggest newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune. Noted reviewer Roger Ebert gave it an A.

Sean Penn directed the movie, and personally asked Kaki to participate by writing and performing original music for the score. The movie stars Emile Hirsch, William Hurt, Vince Vaughn, and Hal Holbrook.

The official movie website is:

I hope you get a chance to see the movie. She used her Adamas II 1581-5 for many of her contributions to the score.

On a personal note, I'd like to thank the management and employees of the Ovation Company for their early support of her professional career as a guitarist. Without you, she could not have succeeded. I also want to thank our many friends on this great Board. I want you all to know that my heart is literally bursting with pride.

Finest regards--

Dave King

I can really only speak for myself, but I'd say we're pretty proud of you and Kaki too!

Jon Krakauer wrote the book and it is VERY good as well....

I'm wondering if the movie is able to narrate and comment on the experiences McCandless might have had as Krakauer does exceedingly well in the book...

Like I said before, Popcritic, this is REALLY BIG! Though she probably didn't think she'd be scoring a movie when she was playing in the subway, this is really a dream come true.

I'll be looking for her at the oscars! I hope she gives you a ticket. ;)
