Location: Boise, Idaho		No, he said it was the very first time, so it must be true. Next thing we know, Taylor will introduce a soundhole in the shoulder and proclaim it revolutionary. Then maybe they'll figure out that they can use a composite round back and eliminate all the bracing needed to hold those corners together.

When I was working on your 1617 and my 1111, I had the occasion to directly compare torsional stiffness between the A-braced top and the X-braced top while both were done, but not yet attached to a body.

I was able to easily twist the A-brace top longitudinally. The X-brace top, OTOH, was very stiff in torsion.

No doubt, what Bob Taylor and Andy Powers developed in their V-braces allows the top to twist in the same way as the quintad and A-braces.

Location: When??		I guess when you can make guitars out of shipping pallets that anything else in the mind is plausible (well, almost anything).
