I recently acquired a very nice Celebrity CP2003.

I can't find a serial number on the guitar, not that I've taken the back plate off or anything. I did take the control package out to replace the battery, but it's not in there and nothing is visible on the one label I can see through the epaulet holes.

Any ideas?

I would love to know how old the guitar is, just for fun.

Also, being new here, I'm obviously not finding my way around as easily as other forums I know. Is there a place, whether in the profile or in each thread, to advise me of replies to the threads I participate in?

Thanks everybody...
Dennis

Don't take this wrong...

It is a CP2003.
What year do you think that it was made in?

Before when F****r bought Ovation there was No real way to tell the age of an Asian-made Celebrity. More recently, since F****r and DWDrums, the first numbers will tell you the year and C or K for China or Korea.

Your guitar was made in 2003.
It is possible that your guitar was made in 2004 because they might have continued production past the model year. Kinda like how not all Ovation Anniversary guitars were made in 1978.

I hope that helps.

Oh, and the serial number should be on a sticker inside the bowl up by the neck block.
You have to look through the holes at an angle to see it.
Or, that is where it should be.

Thanks Arthur... I wondered about the 2003 business, but I thought it was just the model number. I'm not at all familiar with Ovations, not as much as my Martins and Taylors, so this is all new to me.

Thanks again,
Dennis

By the way, based on your signature line, are we related?

I used to record a little and it was disturbing. My standards exceed my talent by measurements that need the Hubble telescope to grasp.

Thanks again Arthur - I found the serial number right where you said it would be, though it was a bit of a challenge to focus a flashlight through the largest hole and read the number anyway.

Last night I put some Silk & Steel lights, (11-47), on the guitar. This is the sweetest sounding fingerstyle box I've heard.
