Joined: September 2011 Posts: 15 Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia | Ive posted this in the Adamas specific forum because thats the most immediate problem but I just realised that I may have the same problem with AdM CL. Broken or bad circuitry could be flattening batteries and leading to bad sound quality or intermittent signal presence... Hey Everyone; My 2008 Collector's Edition has had pre amp issues. Ive owned it since new. It seems that repeated battery changes (at an angle) broke off one of the connection pins in the unit. It made the sound very honky and nasally. My luthier tried fixing it but it only lasted a couple days. So now we are looking to source parts for it, or even, a whole replacement PreAmp unit. Can anyone advise where I can point my luthier to source parts and/or talk tech about this job please??? thanks Ivon Smith Malaysia ALso perhaps in connection to this; I also have the AL di Meola II model CL. The pre amp also had issues where the actually housing needed replacing because of it getting worn and not seating properly. With that guitar I have real battery problems. Replacement seems necessary really often. Could a similar fault/broken/shorted connection in the pre amp connectors cause battery leakage to happen draining them too often? thanks

Direct dealing with the USA would be best Im sure. But the 800 number you quote probably only works from within USA.

But at worst I think the whole preamp unit for the 2008 Collectors Edition Adamas might need replacing. Perhaps it could just be the electrical connectors that are between preamp and guitar body IF they can be gotten separately? The problem with the Al di Meola model was the clips that held the pre amp in place; so replacement of the inner housing for the preamp did the job. But I suspect there may be another connection problem somewhere since the Al doi goes through good quality high power batteries really quickly. I have to keep a standby for every gig. That might have to go to the Doctor's too...again before I know the actually issue. thanks Ivon Malaysia

Hi Ivon,
I would strongly recommend contacting Al at Lost Art Vintage. I recently purchased two Op-pro studio preamps from him. Both came with cans, were very reasonably priced, and they arrived in less than a week.
He really is the man to go to for all things Ovation!
