Hi all

Just joined, but I've been an Ovation fan for years. My first was a Breadwinner, purchased about 1977. Since then I've bought a Matrix (1980), and two Celebrities (CC057 and CC245). I just picked up a Standard Balladeer 1861 AX on eBay, so by puritan standards, I guess this is only my second "real, made in USA" Ovation. I'll be picking it up this week - can hardly wait!

Congratulations, Steve. A new Ovation is always a cause for celebration. Welcome.

Welcome....
I don't mean to spoil your day but we beleive in tough love around here.
The "AX" in your model number means it was made somewhere across the Pacific.
That does not mean it's a bad guitar... It's just that it's something you should know.

Is there a way to break the news gently that, Balladeers are no longer made in the USA?

Hi all

I'm not too concerned with the country of origin. I've been happy with each and every O I've ever owned. I'm looking forward to the step up from my Celebrity to the Balladeer!

Thanks all for the warm welcome.

I've yet to play a bad Ovation. As far as I'm concerned, an entry level Ovation is far superior to so many other companies' midlevel offerings that sticking with Ovations is a no brainer!

I read the original post yesterday and did not want the be the jerk to rain on Steve's parade.
So I just waited for someone else to do it.

But congratulations on the purchase anyway!
So long as you are happy, everybody is happy.

Brad, you're too sincere to be a jerk. That's my job.

Believe me, nobody could rain on my parade (that wouldn't be done on purpose here!). Just a misconception on my part. I'd have bought this guitar even if I wasn't mistaken about its origin. Just moving on up the equipment ladder, trying to resist GAS!
