My apologies everyone! That was my tongue n cheek response to Standing's post about jumping on it before someone else does. I didn't think that anyone would believe that the tag would actually say "Fauxvation" or do I think anyone is living a dreary life. Or that my name is actually Juan Adumee. I have made an offer on the guitar, and if I am lucky enough to get it, I will surely share everything I can learn about it. If I don't, I hope one of you does!! Once again, I really am sorry to all who thought I was serious and I hope you can forgive me.

It was funny. Some folks just take their Ovation/Adamas addiction more seriously than others.

Hi everyone,

I received my new guitar about a week ago, and have been researching its provenance. I am excited to report to all of you what I have learned! First, I must thank John Budny at Ovation and Al Pepiak at Lost Art Vintage for their time and willingness to share their knowledge. They both were great and extremely helpful! Unfortunately the documentation of this guitar is no longer available in the post-Fender era, but both gentlemen were able to remember quite a bit.

It turns out, this guitar was produced alongside the 2007 NAMM guitar, and essentially became the prototype for it. The consensus was that both guitars were made with carbon fiber bowls. The NAMM guitar must have been painted over, most likely chosen for the show on its aesthetic value. The inside of this guitar's bowl was left in a rather crude and unfinished state, and lacks any designation typically seen on custom models. Both these points lend themselves to the theory that this guitar was never intended to be released from the factory, and likely "grew legs" when the factory was closing down.

I currently own two other 2080 models (a 2080ES and a standard 2080), and I can say this guitar stands out from the others. It weighs 1 lb. less than my standard 2080, and in my opinion, has a much more gentle sound if you will. Similar to my W597, but with better projection. I would have to say that it is my best sounded Ovation unplugged. I think the hand laid bowl has a lot to do with that. The only downside I have found is after playing Ovations for over thirty years, I have grown accustomed to not having to worry about bumping or scratching the bowls. This one I must be careful with!

In my quest for information, I decided to call this guitar my "Wonder Adamas" in a nod to all the "Super" Adamii out there

Thanks TPA! And thank you to whomever fixed the photos! I am not familiar with the neck construction, so I can't answer your question with certainty. I can say that it appears to be virtually identical to my standard 2080's neck, other than having the Sperzel open back tuners.

Thank you Standing! One of the reasons why it is the "Wonder Adamas". The person I bought it from acquired it in Oregon only 7 months ago and had no other information on it.

I forgot to mention that the bracing appears to be different than my standard 2080. That guitar has a version of the "X" bracing. It is difficult to really see well on this guitar due to a lack of an access hatch, but it appears to have a fan pattern.
