Hello group, this is my first post here. I am (of course) here because of questions concerning my wife's Ovation acoustic guitar and we are seeking the advice of the experts. She has an old Ovation model 1112-1 that she would like more information (date etc..) on and potentially list it for sale at reasonable cost. (She just purchased a Luna Floral Moonflower Custom).

I looked inside and the model on the metallic looking plate is 1112-1, but it unlike those I've seen on the internet. The model number appears like it was hand inscribed into the plaque, not machined in like others. The serial number is 048904.

She remembers having it 'tuned up' at a guitar center awhile back, and the gentlemen told her if she were to sell it, it was worth a fairly large amount. (no exact amount given, just that he hinted over $500). She's not sure, and this is why she asked me to find out more. I've tried to give as much information as I can on the instrument, but if there are any details I left out, please let me know.

From what I've been able to determine on my own search is the guitar is a Balladeer custom in Sunburst. The only serial # dating site I found places date manufactured as 1975, But I felt it better to consult the experienced knowledge base here.

We appreciate any help you can provide. I'll try to upload a pic or two, if newbies are allowed to do so in this forum area.

There is an FAQ about your question HERE
The easiest way to determine current value is to search on eBay for a similar guitar under SOLD listing.
Remember, people can ASK for as much as they would like...
What a guitar actually Sold For is more indicative of the value.
But a guitar is worth what the Buyer is willing to Pay and what the Seller is willing to Accept.
One just sold for $137 + $50 Shipping. (I wish I had seen that one, I would have bought it)
If we were on Antiques Roadshow we might be talking about "insurance value"...
Your guitar cost about $385 when it was New in 1975.
But you cannot replace it for that much.
Like the Guitar Center guy said, I would price it at $500.
But that is still just a matter of opinion.

Yup! 1975.
