All I get are bills and stray dogs.  Some folks have all the luck. I am with Paul...what is the story?

I watched the auction, but I have to be honest. That guitar went for about $500 more than I thought it would when I first saw it.

It appears to be a beauty Mario and I hope you enjoy it. Clean it up and let us know how it plays and sounds!

Hey, Everyone,
Did I miss something here? I thought the 1982 Collector Series had a round sound hole? Is this a Custom Elite/Custom Legend/Adamas mashup ordered from The Mother Ship, and once owned by a very fortunate nameless individual? My OH MY, what a piece of work. I mean that in a good way!

My guess is this guitar was a custom build. Was it for an employee or a rabid fan with unique taste--who knows? The Elite top, 1982 CE-type finish (blue with dark blue burst), bling on the binding, FET stereo preamp, Adamas II neck with headstock face painted matte black, Adamas I epaulets, and CL-type bridge make for a unique but nice guitar.

Kind of like what Johnny did, when he worked for Cadillac.

OK so I worked on her over the weekend. Unfortunately it was at night so the pictures didn't turn out great. I am only posting a couple of tech shots now and will put up some better ones with better lighting later.

What I found was first it had a few more finish checks than I was expecting but still nothing too bad and could be drop-filled. The thing that was probably most of an issue was at some point it may have needed humidity cuz it has 2 stress cracks around the bridge like it moved but the bridge is secure. The area of the bridge is nice and flat now.

John says because it made in Moosup, he has no record or info on it. Just that is it the same finish as the "82 collector.

This is definitely a 1537 top as is has the birch ply on the upper bout. Even more interesting is who ever built this, put a thin coat of clear on the underside of the top! I have never seen this before.

If you all remember before Beal mentioned that any finish that had color received hold-down screws on the bridge, this does not have them.

The fretboard has the cowboy fret ware not too bad. A nice oiling makes it look nice.

So what does it sound like? To me it has the 1537 boom with more mid-range. Very full sounds and loud. Maybe due to the coat of clear on the bottom or lack of bridge screws. Dunno but I love it. Plays nice and smoothly.
