The seller's price started just under $3,000 and in less than a month has dropped to $2100.  Two knob pre-amp, original brown case, fret board might need a little bit of rehab, but this Adamas II appears to be in pretty fair shape for being over 35 years old.

Nice, but certainly looks to be well used for having 'never left the house'.

Bluebird - 2017-01-18 10:53 AM Nice, but certainly looks to be well used for having 'never left the house'.

Also per the seller: Carbon fiber top, back, and sides...supposedly stored in its case when not being used.

That last part could be true.  But not everyone gives the same level of care to their stuff as you or I might.

The last guitar I bought was a 1996 Adamas 1881-NB5.  I bought the guitar from the original owner in 2003.  This guitar supposedly never left his smoke/pet free home.  The guitar had a few minor cosmetic issues (on the back of the neck and the face of the headstock) and needed a good cleaning as well as $150 worth of fret board planing, fret replacement, and fret dressing before it was in proper playing shape.  In the almost 12 years I owned it, the guitar was played A LOT but endured no further cosmetic or structural damage even having been out of the house a few times and in the hands of my (at the time) eight year old son.

The seller is mostly right--Ovation doesn't make guitars like this anymore...on a large scale.  Most people don't know Ovation USA is still a functioning guitar company.  Al just picked up a few brand new 2016 Adamas 2087GTs a couple weeks ago--a brand new Adamas can be had.  A person might just have to wait a while for it.

Now, trying to buy a used Adamas in played but well-preserved condition gets tougher every day.  Thank goodness for the OFC and its members.
