Hi all

I'm here because I love Ovations. No surprise there, I suppose.

I'm only 24, and I remember quite clearly the first time I saw an Ovation. I was in a music store in my hometown, Cedar City, Utah, and there was this funny little guitar on the wall with a round back. I didn't play it, but a few years later, when I was about 14, I visited my friend's house. His older sister had a Celebrity Model. That round back again! I thought. I asked her to play it, and she obliged; It played great, but it also sounded horrible.

A few more years went by, and I started taking lessons from a fellow who was a real old cowboy. I remember clearly, the first lesson we had, he broke out his mint condition Glen Campbell Ovation, circa mid 70's. At first, I thought, ugh! Another one of those round back guitars. But this one was different; It sounded wonderful.

Since then, I've been on a quest for the perfect one. I've considered one of the 50th Anniversary Folklores, but they're a bit out of my price range. I'm here to find guidance, and perhaps a guitar. I've decided I'd like a 1982 Collector's, and though there are two for sale out on the webs, I thought I'd check here and see if there is one wandering around in mint condition, ready for a player to give it a lifetime of love.

Thanks all!
-Marc

There is a huge difference between USA-made Ovations and Asian-made Celebrity, Ultra, and Ovation guitars.
There is a difference between Korean and Chinese Celebrity guitars.
Some Ovation Pinnacle guitars were made in Japan and they are really nice.

I own a few really old Ovations from the early 70's...
The sound of them is just incredible.

They are incredible. I'm hoping to get my first!

Could somebody let me post in the other forums? I'd like to post a Looking to Buy ad in the For Sale section.
