| First time poster here:
Swapped out the 9v in my Ovation Celebrity CV68. Went to plug 'er in and literally had smoke pouring out of the guitar! Yep, fried the preamp/eq. Apparently must have put the battery in backward. Huge oops!
I'm having considerable trouble finding a replacement and Ovation's customer service folks keep referring me to your site, thus, here I am.
The preamp itself is black with bass, treble, and mid slide controls and a round gain knob. It also says 'viper' on it in scripted red. An Ovation website I've found listed it as model 706000-X. I will try to attach a few photos to clarify.
I am not totally opposed to converting it to another model. I'm somewhat handy with wood and tools to make a different size fit the hole, but I would need to verify that the electrical connectors will match up. I certainly would prefer to locate the correct part though.
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, that is a Viper preamp.
That is what you would want to get.
Maybe someone here might have one, but I was gonna refer you to Ovation repair.
