From my semi-pro viewpoint I would guess that you might be spending more time/attention on the guitars than then dog and a weird kind of jealousy has reared it's ugly head.
One solution might be to include the dog in the act; teach her to sing along with the guitar or carry a cup around the crowd as you play.... YMMV
