Greetings from a newbie to Ovation. Just unpacked a new Legend 12 string 2059AX.. what a beauty she is. Haven't owned a 12 string since 1974 (Yahama). Played until college then stopped all the music until I retired 3 years ago.
Began exploring the ukulele first for about 2 years then bought a couple of Martins and the guitar relearning started anew. Fantastic that the muscle memory was still working and all I needed was to re-develop some calluses.
I'm now excited to be able to finally understand a little theory and the beauty of the math involved in making music.
Still an intermediate player, but I'm having fun.

Now to the question... a forum search didn't turn up any brand names of best straps to consider. It quickly became apparent that my guitar is a slider or my hugging or holding technique leave a lot to be desired, so I'm entertaining the classical guitar strap option. Any brand name recommendations or other ideas are welcome.

Cheers...and I look forward to being a member here.

Straps are a pretty generic item. Go to the store and grab the one you like.
Things to consider:
Suede straps have good traction, but will generally drag your shirt with them.
Nylon straps might get better.
Feel the edge of the strap because it will rub on your neck.
So look for a smooth edge.

Here are a couple that I use...
Planet Waves Hootenanny 1 HERE
And Dunlop Straps. here
I like these two because I can stick a pick into the loop on the end.
I also like Fort Bryan straps because they have thick leather ends, and they are usually cheap.

Like I said, just go to the store and try some.
But if you don't have a store and have to shop online, those are some suggestions.
