So I'll be looking for advice on the new U.S. made Ovations, as I'm not a guitar player myself. I began looking at new Ovations a couple of years ago, and was shocked and disappointed to learn that things looked grim for the Ovation brand, followed by Fender's decision stop U.S. operations and then sell what was left of the company. So it's good news indeed to learn that Ovation has restarted operations in the U.S.

Now more money doesn't necessarily mean more better but it can help in guiding you to the "wow" factor in your gifting. We're pretty good at spending other people's money by the way!

Now more money doesn't necessarily mean more better but it can help in guiding you to the "wow" factor in your gifting. We're pretty good at spending other people's money by the way! We're talking major splash Doesn't have to be an immediate purchase, but we are getting into milestone territory... she's just completed 30 years as a music teacher (vocal and guitar), we have our 35th anniversary looming, and 60 is within hailing distance. So I'd like it not just to be an Ovation, but a statement -- but in particular, something she would immediately recognize as a statement, as she's not a gear-head (I on the other have engineer's disease and obsess over the minutiae of make, model, features, and performance any kind of equipment I happen to investigating) Her other guitars do not have any special pedigree, other than 4 decades of ownership: a no-brand Fender Stratocaster knockoff from the '70s and an acoustic 12 string of similar vintage and unknown provenance. It's time to get her something that will blow her doors off. For example, what caught my eye a couple of years ago (right before Ovation USA closed shop, of course!) was the 1598-MEII. My wife is a fan of Melissa Etheridge, and a 12-string would be a nice complement to her Balladeer 6-string. The W597's also appear to be out of production, but I noticed that new 2078ME-6P's can be had from many sources. Yes, these are 6-strings, but her Balladeer is full acoustic, no pickup. So an electrified 6-string is another good possibility. The 2078ME-6P's are Korean made (?) but can be had for roughly the same price as a used (15 year old?) 1598-MEII I recently spotted. Thoughts so far?

Also, the 40th Anniversary Adamas guitars. You could look around Alex Pepiak's shop to get an idea... www.LostArtVintage.com He has some "New Old Stock" USA Ovations... HERE Plus, Al might be able to arrange a Custom Order. And there is always eBay, Reverb, and Craigslist. Good Luck in your Search. And, YES, we will help you spend your money.
