That really is different, isn't it??

I wonder if it really is an Ovation, even the fretmarkers are different!

I thought that I had seen that rosette before, maybe on a Nylon string?

Weird assembly for sure. I do not like the rosette but all in all it is a nice guitar. And I guess it sounds nicely as well.
(the bridge seems a bit off center....)

Interesting enough and probably a cool find.  The photos look good, but it would be nice to see a close-up of the crack in the top.  Maybe that's why the ad includes a "make offer" button.

Here's an interesting thread from the OFC Vault back in 2005...

http://ovationfanclub.com/megabbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=7699

Couldn't find anything on Japanese websites, but there's apparently more than one of these in the world. Interesting. It must have been a very small build. The neck inlays look more like USA Elite fair. I'm gonna keep digging over here...

Hmmm...here's one selling in the Austin Classifieds for $275.00!

http://www.listlux.com/austin/a,55,896591,--Ovation-Celebrity-CC-14...

That's not bad for a 5-piece neck, wooden inlay fret board markers, and wooden binding/purfling. If the rosette doesn't bother you...a 30th Anniversary and an OP24+, even a Celebrity might be worth 275.00?

Per the 1996 Ovation catalog (pp. 21), this is a CC148-4Z.

4Z - Natural w/inlaid rosette and Solid Top.

This was a one-year only option. (30th Anniversary) This model doesn't appear in the 1995 or 1997 catalogs.
