The name thread reminded me about the idea of carrying a guitar on one's back, papoose style. Why? I saw a guy walking through a mall carrying a Maton this way. He was carrying nothing else. I assumed he wanted to keep his hands free to fend off adoring fans. I have a Godin electric that came with a gigbag equipped with a backpack style arrangement, presumably so I can go to the gig on my bicycle. How the hell does my amp get there?

Shoulder slings on cases and gigbags are great in that they allow you to carry several things into the club at once. These back pack things are just too precious.

Welcome to the bicycle to the gig brigade!
I strap my acoustic guitar to my back using a backaxe (you can google 'em on the internet but it's a strap thingy). I can put a small amp into the basket on the front (actually a 10 W PA for extra sound support), and strap the gigbag to the rear rack. The biggest amp I'd carry would be about a 20 pounder. Otherwise you just need to plan ahead, and hope the house has a PA or shut them up and go acoustic. Maybe someone has a two channel amp?
