FOR SALE: COLLINGS 0002H SB (SunBurst)

This is one sweet guitar. Never saw a Collings that wasn't but this one just blew me away right from the beginning, but sadly times change and it gets virtually no play anymore. It is in immaculate spotless condition, no signs of wear at all and not a mark on it. Of course comes with the super high end original hardshell case.

Serial number 1888 (circa 1995)

$3850. including fully insured FedEx shipping to you door in the 48 US states.

o Model 0002H SB
o Sitka spruce top in Sunburst finish (nobody does a sunburst as nice as Collings)
o East Indian rosewood back and sides
o Grained ivoroid top/back body binding and Herringbone trim
o Pre-war scalloped bracing
o High gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish
o Mahogany neck with square slotted headstock with volute (15 degree headstock angle)
o Ebony fingerboard with ebony pyramid-style bridge
o Neck joins the body at the 12th fret
o Modified V neck profile with 2 5/16" string spacing
o 1 13/16" Bone nut and drop-in saddle
o 25 1/2" Scale length
o Abalone diamond and square fingerboard inlays
o Fully adjustable truss rod
o Nickel Waverly slot-head tuners with 16:1 ratio

New today this guitar would cost you around $4700. But you would have to wait 20+ years for it to sound like mine !!!

Note: Sorry for the glare and reflections in the photos.
This guitar is super glossy finish and virtually impossible to photograph without reflections.

PM or email me if you are interested in a truly high end guitar which will hill you in every way.

THANKS

Hi, Everyone,
Maybe it's a typo for "thrill you"...? Stranger things have happened. Just sayin'. "We're not sure."

I read a feature on Collings a while back and your post reaffirms it.. top class all the way. And such a nice looker!! Now if I could just somehow get the $2.00 in my checking account to mate and produce 3,848 babies we might get somewhere on this.

Yeah, not my intent to pollute the OFC forum by hyping another brand but maybe there is interest. There are a few folks here that will extoll the qualities of Collings. I've owned around 15 of them and it's almost no risk, you are virtually assured that you can resell for what you paid. So I've honed on around 7-8 that I currently have and all are stellar. Oh, and you want talk about mandolins and ukuleles ???

In my opinion Collings has 3 things going for it ...

1. They have a founder/leader at the helm who is relentless in his pursuit for perfection, quality, innovation and he is beloved by his employees. Gee, who does that remind you of.

2. They are small scale like a boutique builder, but large enough to have real organization, quality control, marketing, etc. I don't know how many instruments they build a week but it's not huge and I bet the workforce is maybe 25-30 people. The entire building is about the same size as Martin's loading dock.

3. The instruments and the entire operation just reek of Quality. I have never seen better. Obviously this comes at a price, and basically they are expensive as hell. But I have yet to encounter anybody that invested in a Collings and said that it was not worth it.

They are not competing for the same buyer as Ovation and there are lots of instances where a nice Ovation might be a better tool for the job. But when you get in to the cream of wooden guitars, Collings is absolutely on the top shelf. You can see some of mine here ... www.collingsgallery.com
