| Hello there , greetings from Bergamo , North Italy .
I'm a new owner of a 1773 AX-4 Nylon equipped with a Op Pro and ovation ocp-1k pickup.
Some general impressions and questions for You!
Guitar is great!
1) Where to get spare part ? Seems IMPOSSIBLE to find a replacement saddle or
an entire assembled ocp-1k pickup. My fear is the saddle will worn out quite fast changing
the stings spacially the low E. I tried to contact Ovation Website with no success!
2) Also impossible to buy an upgrade preamp like the Op PRO STUDIO.
The OP PRO is ok but has very low output... being an electronic engineer
i definitely plan to correct the issue but without schematics this will take months...
(I probably will buy a 2nd unit to sacrify to the "science")
3) See the photo here:

On most Lyrachord bodies I've seen there is that strange oval spot , a change of finish.
This is also present in mine. I think is intentional !
What is the purpose of it ?
Is it a sort of reinforce of the point the guitar rest on the leg ? I repeat I saw this on lot of Ovations.
Cheers!
Carlo

If you are talking about that spot on the treble side of that bowl's "waist"...
That is a bit rougher to keep the bowl from slipping on your leg.
If you need a replacement saddle for an OCP-1K pickup, or a whole new pickup,
contact Ovation... http://www.ovationguitars.com/contact
They might refer you to GEWA in Germany, but I would contact the USA factory first.
Until then, don't drag the strings across the saddle.

OK thx. Already contacted Ovation ...no replies. I will try GEWA. Thoman Germany just sells OP PRO, the told me OP PRO STUDIO is discontinued.
I'm trying to decode the Electric Schematics of the OP PRO. It's very complex. A Zilog MCU for the tuner , a couple of TL064, not original but from Japan, I need a 2nd unit to sacrify.......... :-) other IC with code erased...... Grrrr!!!!! It would be great to get al least the pinout of the 8 pin socket to the Guitar CAN....

So Thoman is incorrect. They just might not have a Studio preamp.
But they are still making them.
If you look at the specs for an Elite Plus, or a Legend Plus, they have the OP-Pro Studio.

I hear that the US Mail ships international now.
And I know that I have mailed things to Europe for about the same cost as sending a domestic package cross-country.
