Our regular leader, vocalist, and guitarist was out of town, so that made me the front man for today's performance of the Radical Grace Band. Being a good leader, I delegated the vocals. :D The youth ministry audience was, as always, tolerant. It's worth the stresses involved, getting to perform with my teenage daughter.

We performed Nicole Nordeman\'s "What-If" and Patty Griffin\'s "Forgiveness" .

She mostly sings and also plays some guitar and keyboards. She's the official O owner in the family, with a 1778 Elite T Red Flame.

I enjoy playing with the band, but vocals aren't my thing. This has been way out of my comfort zone, but in a good way. But still stressful!

vocals are where it's at. When you sing and play, your going deeper into peoples senses, you got the poetry of the words, plus, the feeling of the music. When it's good they reflect back and you feed each other. Dare I say a religious experience ... Of course, when it's bad your totally ingnored. That sucks when they start going yak yak yak. They're probably pretty polite in church, though.

You are right. I led worship solo last night. Sometimes people come up to you and tell you how much they enjoyed it. Last night was one of those times that... at least nobody threw anything.

Fly - nice! I get to play some solo stuff during the prayer offerings. It's usually just some random fingerpicking, or the occassional "pop" song. Yesterday I played around with the Allman Bros. Melissa. My son plays bass sometimes - always cool playing with him. It won't be too long before my younger son starts joining in on guitar as well.

If stuff goes south ......
your to tall to hide behind the monitor
to fat to hide behind mic stand
you have no whammy bar to pretend you ment that
and no drummer blame it on.
