As some of you may have seen I just scored a W681TA, which was made in 2002.  It's bracing is different to my 2005 U681T.

The W681TA has a cross brace at the bridge and square braces.  The U681T has no cross brace and scalloped braces.

Here's the W681TA:

Here's the U681T

WOW, BanjoJ! Nice pick-up! And thank you for sharing the photos. That is so interesting that the braces are finished so differently. There must be at least a slightly noticeable sonic difference between the W681TA and the U681T? The FRP top even looks significantly different. Very educational. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Ken.

The W681TA sounds nice, a little brighter than my Ute, which may be largely down to strings. The Ute has GHS Vintage Bronze and the W681TA has new Elixirs. I'll eventually put the same strings on both and compare them.

I was wondering who was going to snag that W681TA. Should have guessed you'd be in the mix. Now I'll have to travel to Canberra again.

Ah, K&K. Proudly made about 140 miles south of me! They let me tour their shop a few years ago.
