FOR SALE: Model 1127 Glen Campbell Artist Balladeer

This is a so-called "transition model" from around 1970. Some of the old and some of the new.

o Serial number E-483
o Rectangular Bloomfield paper label
o Artist depth lightly textured bowl
o Wood neck block
o Winged shape bridge
o Bound legend style neck and inlays
o Oversized GC signature truss rod cover
o VT bracing
o Raised rosette
o Gold Shaller tuners
o Brown case

This guitar is actually a very cool combination of features. The most unique is the oversized Glen Campbell truss rod cover. This alone is rare as hens teeth and until now I though only existed on the original GC Shiny Bowl. The other interesting thing is that this guitar is fitted with a Fishman style under saddle pickup and powered by a 9V clipped to the neck block. Obviously a professional aftermarket install. No idea if it works, but it is there.

Cosmetic condition is actually very nice for its age. On the face of the guitar are 2 eraser sized marks on the lower bout and a partial (about 3 inch) lacquer crack which is hard to see and definitely not in the wood. Tuners are fine, no tarnish. Frets and fretboard are fine. No other dings, scratches etc. On the bowl there are a few scuff marks but not too serious. Case shows lots of scuff marks and exterior stuff but inside is fine and all latches work fine. Lid strap has come loose but could be reattached.

Price is $250. SHIPPED to your door in 48 US States.

WHY SO CHEAP ??? IMPORTANT PLEASE READ ...

Although this guitar plays well and sounds as you would it expect, it is NOT PERFECT. There is a "HUMP" in the fretboard were it attaches to the body. That makes it difficult to set up perfectly without buzz at the upper frets. This is not uncommon and I have had a few other Ovations with this issue fixed by my local guy or by the factory. I just don't want to go through that hassle again and quite frankly I'm got some other stellar guitars to keep me busy. This might be an excellent job for the BFLG folks to have at it !!! Anyway, I just wanted to be 100% up front and disclose this so there is no misunderstanding. Again, it's not perfect. It is fixable. It is nicely playable just as is. I just don't want to be troubled with it at this point so offering up at a rock bottom price.

PM pr email me if you have questions.

THANKS

The short lived winged bridge has to be the coolest bridge Ovation ever used.

NGD-- Or Very Old Guitar Day. But it works.
Dave's photos are better, but here are some more.
Dave included a set of strings, so I changed the strings and the battery, and oiled the neck.
(so I can play faster and smoother )

I sounds nice and plays pretty well for a 45 year-old guitar.
Eventually I will decide on my favorite strings and all that.

Right click on an image and choose "view image" to go to Photobucket to see more photos.

I have put Silk-n-Phosphor strings on this and it sounds nice and plays very well.
The after-market direct-out pickup works, so that could be good for playing on the street corner.
But mostly, this guitar has a nice acoustic tone.
(not everything needs to be plugged-in)
I am researching replacing a few frets, but otherwise...
This guitar is nice and Light and comfortable.
They really knew how to make 'em way-back-when.

[edit for grammar]

Thanks. "Smoky" is how I'd describe it. Beauty!

Bobbo told me to look for matching color/tone on the center stripe with the outside...

I'm curious as to what Standingovation meant by, "powered by a 9V clipped to the neck block". Clipped??

With one of these...

I didn't look to see if it was screwed-in, or glue, or velcro.

Arthur, I have a huge bag frets that will fit that guitar. I need to re-fret my 1127 as well. If you need them I will send you a whole set to do your guitar.
