Or ... those who cannot remember the past are condemed to repeat it.

There only hope to make it successful it to offer something different. Based on the picture, I see nothing special. So I guess in about two years we'll be picking these up on ebay for half price.

Agreed. History, blah, blah, repeat, ditto, acoustic makers trying to penetrate the solid electric market, whaa, whaa, whaa.

This may very well be doomed to failure, or maybe not. BUT, I must say that I really DO like the looks of the Taylor solidbody, strictly from a Oooo-Ahhh standpoint. Elderly's latest catalog actually has a nice full page photo and at least to me this looks pretty nice - and that's coming from a guy who hates Taylors.

The people who buy Taylor acoustics will love these to death; these guitars will find a niche and hold on to a modest market share, from players crossing over from acoustic to electric (with the T-5 as a "bridge"). Players who are already into electrics like Fenders, Gibbys and Hamers will ignore them.

The point of these guitars is to grow Taylor's market share....the only way to do that was to go into a new market.

Hmm, a "cultish" group of guitar owners...can you imagine how strange it must be to be involved in something like that...? ;)
