Hi everyone, New member here. Great forum!
I have an old Ovation classical that I thought if anyone could ID it would be you guys.
My dad used to fly for Charlie back in the late 60's early 70's and he gave him a couple of guitars, unfortunately
I sold one in my teens(52 now). My dad passed in 75 (plane crash) and I have had it since.
The guitar has no serial or model designation. Looks like there may have been a paper label at one time...not sure. I have noticed things on it that are unlike others I have seen. Like a differently shaped bridge and inlaid rosette.
It's a deep gloss bowl and plays and sound great.
Damon67 thought it looked like a very early model 3 or K1113.
I have seen pics of 67-68 Model 3's but they have a zigzag rosette and mine is the Balladeer floral style.
Anyone care to venture a guess as to what I have?

Thanks for any and all responses.

Dave Abrahamson

HERE is a 1970 Catalog on Ovation Tribute.

And here is a chart that could be helpful:

So... Does your guitar have Sitka Spruce or Spanish Pine (Cedar)?

Thank You For Your Quick reply. Good info. I can't tell the soundboard material, I'll have to A/B it against some of my known Sitka guitars.
If I were to guess, I'd say cedar. I notice none of those pictured or the chart shows my Brazilian Rosewood bridge either. No inlays on the finger board as well
It's a Frankenguitar. ;-)

I know that the Model 3 had at least two different rosettes (for some reason, I want to say I have seen 3, though). Obviously, it had 2 different bridges. All of these were tied to the shiny bowl. So, my guess is a 69ish Model 3 Classic. The 1113 had the same rosette, I am pretty sure.
